CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION!

This project began in 2016 as a series of thirteen original compositions by musician/composer Zac Fawcett. Recording was cut short when Zac had to press pause to sort out some challenging life circumstances including a move to Montana, where he took a job commercial raft-guiding along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River.

After a particularly awe-inspiring float down 280 miles of the Colorado river through Grand Canyon in 2020, Zac’s perception of acoustics and reverb was expanded. With the desert oranges and purples of the American West burned into his retinas and with new inspiration from the booming chasm of North America’s second deepest river canyon, Zac added a few more pieces to this project in hopes to convey the deep, and dimensional natural reverbs and echoes found within the “big ditch,” -a metaphor for the valley of the human heart.

Given his love of classic Western, Samurai, Anime, and “Blacksploitation” Film/Soundtracks, Zac rolled these influences into a unique magnum opus. In the way Quentin Tarantino uses juxtaposition, irony, and over-the-top song selection, Cazador del Oso rolls all of these elements together bringing stylistic influences as wide and deep as the Grand Canyon, presenting hypnotic dub-reggae, zany hip-hop instrumentals, melancholic art-song, odd-meter funk, Afrobeat, and Acid-Jazz cuts, Ambient bird-song organically and ethically harvested in NW MT, and Avante-garde cinematic Western-style character pieces.
